He's my Manhattan from the Sky....

Baby
What are you doing today
what are you doing later
I don’t know my way through a maze of gray skyscrapers
But I’m willing to learn

If you want me to I’ll stay just where I am
But I promise just to follow when I land
And you can take my word for that

You are my Manhattan from the sky
You look so neat and tidy when I’m way up high,
But I know your streets are lined with a fine mess inside
And I wanna come down and walk around your mind.

Daises
Once upon an old daydream, that’s what you gave me
Out on the corner of Broadway and 48th street, on a rainy afternoon
(Well) I could start discovering your world
And I would make a damn good city girl
Things would start to bloom, I’m sure

You are my Manhattan from the sky
You look so neat and tidy when I’m way up high,
But I know your streets are lined with a fine mess inside
And I wanna come down and walk around your mind.

I know you want me to see don’t lie to me
Why you gotta go be so shy to me?
I ain’t buying the false anxiety let your fortress fall
What’s it gonna take to get you there?
If fear was money you’d be a millionaire
Or all alone in a leather swivel chair counting stacks of good
Oh oh
You are my Manhattan from the sky
You look so neat and tidy when I’m way up high,
But I know your streets are lined with a fine mess inside
And I wanna come down and walk around ohhh

You are my Manhattan from the sky
You look so neat and tidy when I’m way up high,
But I know your streets are lined with a fine mess inside
And I wanna come down and walk around your mind.
Oh ohh ohh oh

*so there's this guy. lol. i'm such a dork. but ever since i heard this song it reminded me of him. we're still in the stages of getting to know each other and sometimes i feel like i just want to walk around his mind for a day, ya know? i don't want to put myself out there if he doesn't feel the same way about me. he seems safe from the outside, but i haven't figured out the kind of person he is on the inside yet. wish me luck ;) we've only known each other for a month or two now and already we're discussing some serious stuff. like boyfriend/girlfriend, dear john's, marriage, etc. this is my first time talking about this with a guy and i don't want to seem stupid or naive because he's older than me and he's already done this plenty of times! i just don't want to be considered "just another girl". he's planning on visiting me in the hospital and he's said that i'll see a lot of him over the summer. ugh! i'm gonna need some MAJOR girl help to make me look at least half-way decent :S but for now...He's my Manhattan from the Sky.

12 more days...it's getting kind of scary!!

June 3, 2009
el 3 de junio, dos mil y nueve
6-3-09
the day after Angela Hofeling's Birthday
10 days before my best friend's birthday
Kate Voegele Lift Me Up Tour
my surgery date

the other day i went to Phoenix Children's Hospital to have a tour of the place and see what kind of things i'll be hooked up to and such. i got to meet some other girls that are having the same surgery i am over the summer and i just have to say "am i the only normal girl with scoliosis???" as i sat there during the tour i was looking around the room and realized i was surrounded by a bunch of WEIRDOS!! i know it sounds mean, but these were seriously the strangest and most awkward girls i've ever met!! and i know that sounds pretty hypocritical because i have had my fair share of oh-my-gosh-do-you-see-what-tobie-just-did-isn't-she-psycho moments, but there was one girl who just stared out the window the entire time and there was another who sat there crying!! i'm not THAT depressed about this surgery! And i felt a little better not only after they let me know that i'd be monitoring and controlling my own drug dossage, but i saw the backs of the girls around me and even the parents asked "what's wrong with her? her back looks fine to me!" i really feel bad for the girl who had a hump on her back and the girl who's shoulder-blade was sticking out, they're going to have a tougher time recovering then i will. i hope that because my condition isn't as noticeable that's a good sign! :) even though i'm scared, i'm going to try my best to stay positive and be my regular joking self. hospitals aren't always considered the happiest or funnest of places, but i hope that i won't be effected too much. i enjoy laughing too much! i feel so much better to know that i've got the greatest of friends and family that are going to be surrounding me 24/7. My dad just let me know the other day that he's going to get the internet put on his laptop so that i can use it when i'm bed-ridden, so i'll try my best to blog about my recovery from this surgery! thank you so much to everyone that has said they'll keep me in their prayers! i love you!

It's Not Over...Is It???

So today was the last day of my Sophomore Year in High School and BOY WAS IT A CRAZY ONE!! I honestly can't imagine how different my 1st year in high school would have been without having the AMAZING Kylee and Kazhia by my side. These two seniors have seen it all and definitely showed me the "do's and don'ts" of high school laced together with a gagillion laughs!! Tonight they're graduating and I for one couldn't be anymore happier for them and for where they're going to end up in life. I couldn't have asked for two better mentors this year in high school and i feel blessed that even though i only got to spend a year with them in high school, they've taught me so much!! I don't have anything bad to say about these two lovely ladies (not that i ever have anything bad to say about anyone) but i just want the whole world to know how much I love and appreciate them and their advice! I'm going to miss them like crazy but hopefully i can share a few extra Fresa Parties with them before they move on with their lives. Kazhia, you are so smart, beautiful, and a HUGE example to me! I hope you have a wonderful time at BYU and maybe bring home a hot return missionary, eh? eh? lol. Kylee, you are such a sweet girl who deserves a guy that's going to adore you and love you always because you're worth it! Now that you're beginning your journey into the real world, don't forget to remember me and all the good times we've had. If you're ever feeling down and need a good "pick-me-up" you know who to find!! :) :) :) I love you girlies so so so much!! You will not be forgotten at Skyline High School because i'm going to make sure that everyone knows "The kind of student I am at Skyline is the one who looked to Kylee Stradling and Kazhia Mellor for guidance."

Time For a Change :)

So my blog background has been bugging me for quite some time now and although it was pretty cool, i'd just had enough of trying to get the font to work how i wanted it. IT WAS JUST STARTING TO BECOME A PAIN. and i'm sure it has become a pain for all of you readers who have had to squint at the computer screen or highlight the text to figure out what it says. so i figured it was time for a change!! VWWALAH!!IT IS DONE!

THE PHONE CALL!!!

it's kind of wierd when you find out that your mom has seen the same movie that you watched in seminary when she was in seminary!! anyway, just thought I'd post the video because i love it so much :)

Surgery Date Pushed Forward

so it looks like there has been a change in plans and instead of having my surgery on June 10th, I'll be having it on June 3rd! YIKES! But I'm kind of happy because that means that I'll be able to be out of the hospital for Andrea's Birthday!! :)

Brazilian Butt Augmentation

Okay...so this is for Kylee, but unfortunatley I couldn't find the full video of the Brazilian Butt Augmentation that inspired my "prank phone call" act. Anyway, the begininning of the video is dumb because there's some wierd lady describing the video and it only shows like 30 seconds of the original video :( which sucks because the entire video is really funny.
if you want to save yourself some boredom, just start from 2:03 and go to 3:02

Hey, We're All Gonna Die!

Keep your eyes on the road on the Glass Passenger
He sings for a traveling band.
Well I'll be tommorow
Is God only knows
Seems there's a science in hand
But I'll finish the shows when I lay.

I said hey hey hey
We're all gonna die
Hey hey hey
We're all gonna die
We're all gonna die someday.

To England turned gray
To the old TLA
To the lands of my portable camera
Labeled proud to the new yorks shows sold out
I noticed a change in the weather
It's got cold someone hand me my sweater.

I said hey hey hey
We're all gonna die
Hey hey hey
We're all gonna die
We're all gonna die someday.

So keep your eyes on the road on the Glass Passenger
I've return to scene of crime
With my bus and my band I'm making a stand
So simpathy now for the last time.

I said hey hey hey, we're all gonna die
Hey hey hey, we're all gonna die
Well I said hey hey hey, we're all gonna die
I said hey hey hey, We're all gonna die
We're all gonna die someday.
-"Hey, We're All Gonna Die" by Jack's Mannequin

*I just thought I'd share the lyrics to one of my favorite Jack's Mannequin songs that unfortunately has never been recorded and Andrew only plays it at his concerts. Its a really good song and it inspired the title for his latest album.
Here's a video so you can hear what the song sounds like.

PF Changs/Wedding Reception/Love and Basketball

Don't you love it when all the boys in your family go on Fathers and Sons Outings? I know i do! Last night was GIRLS NIGHT because the boys were out of town!! First, my mom, sister, and i went out to PF Changs for dinner (which was delish! i ate so much that i had the HUGEST MOST UNATTRACTIVE piece of flab of fat hanging off the sides of my jeans...it was gross. now that volleyball season is over i am getting WAY out of shape.) anyway, afterwards we went to Cassie Cronin's wedding reception and got in line to congratulate them and afterwards we were planning on having cake...but we were so full from PF Chang's that we opted out. So as we're driving home, my little sister starts complaining that her stomache hurts really bad and i just told her "you probably ate too much. and you have no room to complain! do you see my huge belly right now? i look preggers!" a few minutes later, my sister had her head stretched out the window and was barfing all over the side of our car on a MAIN ROAD!! you should've seen the looks on the faces of people that were driving by us. so my mom pulls over to help my sister and i get out of the car to see if i can find something the clean the mess up with and see that the entire left side of our car is COVERED in PJ Changs Orange Chicken :) so after my sister was finished, we drove off making sure to stay on the inside lane so that nobody would catch a peek at the nasty view on the side of our car. the grossest part was the fact that once we got home it had all dried onto the car....ewwwwww!

anyway, hopefully i didn't gross you guys out too much but i thought i'd share how my GIRLS NIGHT OUT went. I also watched a REALLY good movie called "Love and Basketball" I'm not a huge fan of sports movies but this was definitely a GREAT one. I wish i could play basketball because it's such an intense game with so many emotions. And not only that, but there are so many great stories that come from the game of basketball. "Love and Basketball" was about a boy and a girl that lived next door to each other growing up. the girl was a tomboy who loved Magic Johnson and the Lakers and the boy had a father that played for the LA Clippers. the movie is seperated into 4 quarters (like how basketball is played) and each quarter is a stage in the lives of the boy and girl. The ending is so good and i think that everyone should watch it, whether you're a fan of basketball or not because it is still a great movie to see!
