Top 10 Artists You SHOULD Know...

#1. Noisettes
i've mentioned them before in a few other posts, but i seriously cannot say enough about this group!! the lead singer has a voice similar to Duffy. i don't even know how to describe this band. they have several funky, fun songs. Their song "Never Forget You" is always stuck in my head!

Honorable Mentions:
*Don't Upset the Rhythm (another funky song)
*Sometimes (a rare acoustic song. very pretty)

#2. Rosi Golan
nobody has heard of her, which is a shame because her voice is so beautiful and her music is so pretty. If you like Missy Higgins, then you'll like Rosi Golan. My favorite song of hers is "Come Around."

Honorable Mentions:
*Think of Me (has a folk feel to it)
*Been a Long Day (beautiful lyrics)

#3. Matthew Perryman Jones
his songs are so sad, but absolutely beautiful! i'm just a sucker for sad songs. i play his music on rainy days.

Honorable Mentions:
*Out of Reach (his newest single. one word: AMAZING)
*Where the Road Meets the Sun (this song features another artist you SHOULD know, Katie Herzig, and the two of them singing together is magical!)

#4. Katie Herzig
speaking of her...Katie Herzig!! She's another one of my favorite "moody" singers. ha. however, one of my favorite songs by her is surprisingly upbeat. it's called "Hey Na Na" and it has the catchiest chorus IN THE WORLD!

Honorable Mentions:
*Forevermore
*Fools Gold

#5. Amy Kuney
her voice is one of those deep, thick one's like KT Tunstall. My favorite song of her's is "All Downhill From Here." i prefer her live version of it. she is so talented!

Honorable Mentions:
*Simple Things
*Rocket Surgery

#6. Angela Anne
so this is kind of weird talking about her since she was one of my best friends in elementary school, BUT everyone should listen to Angela Anne (aka: Angie Flores) the coolest chick out there who just signed with a record label and when she refers to her "job" she's really working in a recording studio...HOW COOL IS THAT?! she's awesome! although i love her dearly, i like her original songs better than her covers. Here is my absolute favorite song of hers called "Clueless
" Check her out at www.angelaanne.com

#7. The Script
i can't even begin to describe how awesome The Script is! i've been listening to them for a year and their songs never get old! "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" is one of my favs from them.
btw: this video is pretty gay but it was all i could find for this song.

Honorable Mentions:
*If You See Kay
*Live Like We're Dying (not to be confused with the Tim McGraw song)

#8. La Rocca
probably my all-time favorite band if you minus dashboard confessional. i've already decided that i want a La Rocca song playing at my funeral! if you don't immediatly fall in love with this band...then you are psycho! I have too many favorites. Currently "Ballad of Arizona" is my favorite. the intro is just so amazing! it immediatly catches my attention and puts me in a good mood.

Honorable Mentions:
*Non-believer (if there is EVER a song to hear from La Rocca, this one is a MUST)
*Roadway Hymn (i listen to this in the car during vacation trips all the time. it puts me to sleep...in a good way!)

#9. Low Vs. Diamond
i've seriously mentioned these past two artists probably a million times in other posts and you've probably heard their songs on my playlist before, but i just want to emphasize how incredibly AMAZING La Rocca and Low Vs. Diamond are!!! And just like La Rocca it's going to be hard to choose just one favorite...but for now i would have to say "This is Your Life" is one of my favorites!

Honorable Mentions:
*Killer B (the guitar in the background is insanely good!)
*Heart Attack

#10. Nada Surf
oh geez. i've mentioned Nada Surf several times in the past as well. i guess i should've entitled this post "Top 10 Arstist You SHOULD Know...By Now! Since Tobie Never Shuts Up About It" although that's a rather lengthy title. I can't say anything bad about Nada Surf. one of my favorite lyrics comes from their song "Always Love" it says "...to make a mountain of your life is just a choice." i always think about that lyric because of how much truth comes from it. it really is all in your attitude and approach to life. if you think life is overwhelming and hard it's because you choose to think that way. the rest of the song is kind of "hippy-ish" in my opinion but the message is beautiful.

Honorable Mentions:
*Inside of Love
*I Like What You Say

THANKS FOR ENDURING THIS VERY LONG TOP TEN LIST! I HOPE I DIDN'T BORE ANYONE. BUT I'M JUST OBSESSED WITH MUSIC AND I HOPE AT LEAST 1 PERSON ENJOYED MY RECOMMENDATIONS :)

Tobie!!! i always LOOOOVE your lists. You seriously have THE best taste in music. Ever. 'Nuff said. Haha. My favorites from your list would have to be:

#1- she DOES sound like Duffy! their sound is kinda oldies and i love it!!

#4- I love songs like this!! they mostly make me laugh..tehe.

#6- Ok that girl is darling and she has a REALLY good voice, and hello that is so cool that you know her!

#7- Good song!!! and that video slide show made me crack up. I always wonder what is going through the people's heads who make those videos. I guess they think they have to come up with a picture for every literal thing that is happening in the song for the listener to fully get the song. Hahah.

#8- wow i can't believe i've never heard of this band. srsly, their sound is my favorite type of music. the lead guy kinda sounds like Brandon Flowers from the Killers, and i love me some Killers:)

those were just my favorites, but ALL of these songs were really good!!!
